"My hope is that people from all of our rural communities will realize that we will offer classes in their communities. I want them to feel free to call the Centre 48 office at any time and request a class,” says Fisher, a former teacher and youth activity coordinator. ”I want everyone to know that Centre 48 is for them - all they have to do is let us know what they’d like in their community.”

Fisher plans to help Centre 48 further build Regina East communities by hiring local instructors whenever she can. If you are interested in teaching a class for Centre 48 or are interested in taking training to teach a class, like yoga or tai chi, Fisher says she definitely wants to hear from you.

“We have the ability to offer part-time employment to local residents, so I really encourage people with any kinds of skills or training in areas from fitness to music to the arts to come forward.”

Call the Centre 48 office (424-2166) on Wednesdays or leave a message any time for all events and classes. Visit the Centre 48 office located in the Village of Montmartre building on Wednesdays 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Mail your name, address, phone number, class you’d like to take and a cheque to:

PAYMENT POLICY:
All Centre 48 classes must be paid in full prior to the class start date. A drop-box for cheques is located in the front entrance of the Montmartre Village Office.

REFUND POLICY:
If anyone cancels less than one week prior to the class start date or after the first class, they will receive 50 per cent of their tuition back. There will be no refunds for cancellations occurring after the second class.

CLASS MINIMUMS:
Classes with less than six students may be cancelled. Full refunds will be granted.

GOALS ADOPTED:
The Centre 48 Steering Committee recently adopted the following series of goals with the purpose of defining the centre’s role in the region. The goals of Centre 48 are:

To enhance the quality of life for all Regina East residents by providing a wide variety of educational opportunities whether they be arts-related, sport-related, life enhancing, skills-based or academic.

To increase arts offerings to residents of all ages and capabilities in order to cultivate greater interest and participation in music, dance, drama and visual-arts disciplines.

To provide employment opportunities to as many local residents as possible.

To stimulate the regional economy by buying locally, using local facilities and hiring local employees.

To keep circulating our profits back into our communities through local purchases, competitive wages and Centre 48 growth.

To inject vibrancy and a sense of optimism into our communities by providing a concrete example of a successful community-initiated project that has relied very little on government funding.

To build a connection between the communities of our region by working together in a cooperative way to provide opportunities for all of our citizens.

To make the entire region a more attractive place to live by providing as many educational opportunities as close to home as possible.
